Clark Properties Launches Clark Logistic Services

Mike Clark names Mike Cook as VP of warehouse logistic firm; Steve Morrison picked for director of operations.

ST. LOUIS, June 1, 2004 – Clark Properties, a full-service real estate development and property management company headquartered in St. Louis, has named Michael J. Cook vice president of warehouse and logistic services for its newest venture, Clark Logistic Services (CLS). Steven T. Morrison was named director of operations.

Michael H. Clark, president of Clark Properties, said CLS is designed to provide full-service warehouse management services to both national and regional clients.

“We are fortunate to have people with experience and energy like Mike Cook and Steve Morrison leading this business,” Clark said. “Mike Cook brings to the table more than 25 years experience in the warehousing industry, having worked with some of the nation’s largest users. Steve Morrison has positive energy that won’t quit – he refuses to say ‘no’ to a client because he believes every tough logistics challenge is an opportunity for a world class solution.”

With the addition of CLS, Clark said his firm is able to offer cost-effective industrial space for clients who handle their own products as well as complete warehouse management services. CLS gives clients the added benefit of a property manager who can oversee all operations from the time the product enters their space to its arrival at their client’s door. Value-added services include pic-n-pak, repackaging and product recovery, among others.

Prior to joining CLS, Cook served as general manager of Madison Warehouse Corp. of St. Louis as well as vice president and partner of Han-Co Truck Lines, Inc., a former St. Louis company.

Morrison has worked in the transportation and warehouse industries for almost 15 years. He was director of operations for USF Logistics in St. Louis. He also supervised warehouse operations and transportation management for Borden Foods, St. Louis. He attended the University of Evansville in Evansville, Ind., and the University of Southern Illinois at Carbondale.

“In today’s market, warehouse management requires efficient and cost-effective use of resources and time and space management,” Cook said. “Just-in-time deliveries and immediate availability of inventory data are key to the success of any firm that has to ship goods to its customers. CLS will be a partner in reaching those goals for our customers.”

Morrison said CLS will provide a variety of problem-solving options for clients. "While we offer an assortment of warehouse space in several Midwest locations through Clark Properties, we also have the capability to perform logistics services within a manufacturers’ building or any other non-Clark Properties’ site,” Morrison said. “Our goal is to provide value and service to our clients – not excuses.”

Clark sees CLS as a natural evolution of his business, which was founded in 1985. Since then, Clark Properties has acquired, renovated, and sold or leased more than 4.7 million square feet of office, warehouse/distribution and light manufacturing space. “Since we own and manage our own properties, we are able to provide our customers with maximum flexibility and a variety of space options,” added Clark. “We know that flexibility and the ability to react quickly are essential ingredients for success.”

Clark Properties is the designated developer for several high-profile redevelopment projects, including the 1.6 million square foot Union Seventy Center, located on the former site of a General Motors plant. Other high-profile facilities include the Alton Center Business Park, Pagedale Business Center, Riverview Industrial Center and a bulk warehousing/manufacturing facility on Byassee Drive in Hazelwood, Mo.

The company owns and manages its properties, offering Brownfields redevelopment, build-out, rehabilitation and other services. Two current Brownfield redevelopment projects include Plymouth Industrial Park in Wellston for the St. Louis County Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority (LCRA) and the Carondelet Coke site for the city of St. Louis LCRA.
